Aboard Silver Cloud
Rough. Real. Remote - three words that can only begin to describe the Arctic region. Rugged yet fragile, mild yet glacial, go above and beyond your expectations and discover polar perfection at the very top of the world.
Let our team of Expedition Leaders help! We have sourced the very best scholars there are: infectiously enthusiastic men and women who are not only superbly qualified in their field, but who also share a passion for their subject. From biologists, naturalists and anthropologists to geologists, historians and photographers, they've got it covered. And with never more than 16 people per Zodiac, there really is no better way to get closer to the authentic beauty of this part of the world.
Join Cindy Chambers of Beyond Group Travel, your host, as you navigate through the Arctic glaciers in this secluded destination.

Activity Level & Health
Participants must be in good health to embark on this CruiseTour. This is a rigorous tour and you need to be in good physical condition with good balance as the terrain varies and can be uneven at times. All ship-to-shore transfers use Zodiacs and some wet landings require guests to wade through knee-high deep water.
You can expect to walk 2-3 miles on average over the course of each day. Hydration throughout the trip is strongly recommended.
Nuuk, Greenland –
Nuuk’s historic community and the position of this harbour town allows one to take in Nuuk’s natural beauty and to walk past Inuit ruins, Hans Egede’s home, and the Church of our Saviour. Nuuk gives visitors a chance to view the famous Qilakitsoq mummies and traditional clothing and artefacts at the Greenlandic National Museum.
Lady Franklin, Monumental and Lower Savage Islands, Nunavut, Canada –
Zodiac cruises along the shore of these islands will permit to look for polar bears, walrus, seals and seabirds that use the islands as resting places.
Isabella Bay, Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada –
Isabella Bay and its National Wildlife Area is an important summer habitat for bowhead whales. Narwhals are also known to frequent the area.
Gibbs Fjord, Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada –
Polished cliffs rise vertiginously a kilometre above the water, with hanging blue glaciers spilling from icecaps on the peaks high above. The Silver Cloud will cruise through the fjord, one of Baffin Island’s most dramatic natural features, with its steep mountains, waterfalls and glaciers.
Qeqertarsuaq, Greenland –
The houses of Qeqertarsuaq are painted in bright colours which contrast nicely with the many stranded icebergs that have come from Ilulissat’s Icefjord. Conditions permitting, a walk to a waterfall near the village will be offered. Ilulissat, Greenland – Ilulissat has the Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, right next to the town. A boardwalk east of the town leads to impressive lookout points of the Icefjord. Only local boats are allowed into the fjord for spectacular views of the many icebergs ready to head into the Atlantic.
Kayaking in the Arctic –
Silver Cloud offers the opportunity to kayak in a small group under the guidance of certified kayak instructors. These special excursions are a chance to appreciate the wilds of the Arctic in peaceful silence.
Learn about the history of Greenlandic and Canadian Inuit communities and experience how modern descendants live in small villages in these modern times. Look for Inuit art in Greenland and in Nunavut, which claims to have more artists per capita than any other part in the world.
